5 Ways for Farmers and Ranchers to Show Gratitude This November

As harvest season winds down and Thanksgiving approaches, it's the perfect time to show gratitude to those who make a difference in our daily lives.

Five simple ways to spread appreciation this month:

  1. Drop Off a Treat at Your Local Co-op
Harvest season is a marathon for everyone involved in agriculture, including your co-op team. Show them some love by bringing a box of donuts or some homemade treats to keep their spirits up after those long days. A small gesture can mean a lot to the people who support you year-round.

  2. Write a Thank You Note to Your Banker
A good ag lender is more than just a financial partner; they're in it for the long haul. A quick, handwritten note acknowledging their support can go a long way in strengthening your relationship. Whether they've helped with financing new equipment or just stayed flexible during tough seasons, let them know you’re grateful for their partnership.

  3. Acknowledge Your Equipment Dealer or Repair Team
Those early mornings and late nights wouldn’t be possible without the folks keeping your equipment running. If there’s someone who’s worked extra hard to keep you on track, take a moment to stop by, shake their hand, and say "thank you."

  4. Express Appreciation to Your Farmhands
Your crew works tirelessly through every season, often in less-than-ideal conditions. Show them how much you appreciate their hard work by treating them to a team lunch, giving a bonus, or simply saying “thank you” after a long day.

  5. Give a Shout-Out to Your Family
Farming and ranching are team efforts, and family members often bear the weight alongside you. This November, make time to show gratitude for the support, patience, and sacrifices your family makes. A heartfelt acknowledgment over a shared meal or a special family outing can go a long way.

As farmers and ranchers, expressing gratitude not only builds stronger relationships but also reminds us of the community that supports us. Here’s to spreading a little kindness and gratitude this November!

Jonathon Haralson

Jonathon Haralson, a sixth generation farmer by heritage, and he started farming his own operation from scratch in 2009.

Growing up, Jonathon’s family raised cattle, wheat, hay, and grew pecans. He grew up, alongside his brother, watching his Grandfather and Dad work from sun-up to sun-down on the family farm and grow yard. As time passed by, the market volatility became greater and the banking stress became greater, and Jonathon witnessed the fall of his family’s farming operation when he was just a child. He saw his dreams of continuing to build his family’s farming empire disappear as he watched his family’s equity and land auctioned off piece by piece. It’s something Jonathon never wanted to see happen to another family.

By the grace of God, Jonathon now educates farmers and ranchers about commodities, so they can spend more time out in the field and with their families.
