Honoring Legacy and Grit This Memorial Day

For a lot of folks, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer: grilling out, lake trips, and time with friends and family.

But it’s a day that means much more. It’s a time to remember the men and women who gave everything for this country and to recognize that many of them came from small towns and backroads just like ours.

What Service Looks Like in Rural Life

In ag, we know a thing or two about sacrifice and service. Whether it’s getting up before sunrise to put a crop in the ground or staying up late to pull a calf, the rhythm of rural life takes grit. It’s not flashy. It’s not loud. But it matters. And on Memorial Day, that quiet kind of commitment feels even more meaningful.

Honoring the Land and Those Who Protected It

We don’t take lightly the fact that our work helps folks care for the land these heroes fought to protect. Good financials, strong operations, and long-term planning aren’t just business. They’re stewardship. They’re a way to honor the generations who came before and ensure there’s something worth handing down to the ones coming next.

Every producer we work with is doing more than making a living. They’re carrying on a legacy. And that’s worth remembering too.

Strength in Every Season

Just last month, we sponsored the Rural Gone Urban golf tournament, not for a day on the course, but to stand behind rural women facing some of life’s hardest battles. Women rebuilding after loss. Fighting through cancer. Taking bold steps forward with grit and purpose.

Their stories remind us that resilience comes in many forms. Memorial Day is a time to honor those who gave everything for our country and to recognize their strength. It’s also a moment to reflect on what it takes to keep showing up through service, sacrifice, and everyday rural life.

This Memorial Day, we will take a moment to remember those who gave everything. We will recommit to showing up for the people who keep rural America strong today. That is how you honor a legacy. You live it out with grit, with gratitude, and with purpose.

Helping You Prepare for What’s Next

While you take time to reflect and relax during the long weekend, remember we’re here to help you plan what comes next. Whether it’s succession planning, financial clarity, or support for your ag business, we’re proud to walk alongside producers who understand what it means to serve something bigger than themselves.

Jonathon Haralson

Jonathon Haralson, a sixth generation farmer by heritage, and he started farming his own operation from scratch in 2009.

Growing up, Jonathon’s family raised cattle, wheat, hay, and grew pecans. He grew up, alongside his brother, watching his Grandfather and Dad work from sun-up to sun-down on the family farm and grow yard. As time passed by, the market volatility became greater and the banking stress became greater, and Jonathon witnessed the fall of his family’s farming operation when he was just a child. He saw his dreams of continuing to build his family’s farming empire disappear as he watched his family’s equity and land auctioned off piece by piece. It’s something Jonathon never wanted to see happen to another family.

By the grace of God, Jonathon now educates farmers and ranchers about commodities, so they can spend more time out in the field and with their families.
