Sam DuRant • South Carolina
Sam DuRant and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Gable, South Carolina, alongside their daughters, Anne Heaton and Amelia. Farming over 1,500 acres in Clarendon and Sumter counties, they cultivate corn, cotton, soybeans, and sesame. Elizabeth, a pharmacist in Manning, balances her career with farm life. Meanwhile, their daughters are passionate about horseback riding and animals.
Sam doubles as a retail dealer for Show Me Shortline, specializing in Richiger grain baggers and unloaders. Originally starting as a side venture to meet local demand, Sam's business has steadily grown over the past three years. Looking ahead to 2024, he plans to involve his daughters in the business.
Beyond farming, Sam serves as a delegate on the National Cotton Council. The DuRant family is actively involved in Graham Baptist Church, prioritizing faith and family values. Sam's decision to join Empire Ag stems from his desire to enhance marketing strategies and develop a solid transition plan for the future.
